Are You Suffering from Impostor Syndrome?
By Debbie Cline

Have you ever had the feeling that you haven’t earned your success, you simply got lucky, and you’re a fraud or imposter around people who actually earned it and know what they’re doing? If so, you have experienced Impostor Syndrome.
You can have a successful resume of impressive titles, millions of dollars to your name, an impressive personal and professional life – but still not feel like you earned it or own it. When it comes to Impostor Syndrome, we are often our own worst critic, dismissing our accomplishments or criticizing our capabilities.
I’m going to let you in on a secret – you are not alone! We all experience moments of doubt, and that’s normal. The important part is not to let that doubt control your actions. Don’t freeze with fear, but rather fake it ‘til you make it. Here are a few tips to help you realize your awesomeness:
- Own your accomplishments
- Don’t use language that diminishes your value
- Accept compliments
- Don’t compare yourself to others
- Get a perspective check from a friend, colleague or mentor
- Embrace failure as not just OK, but valuable
